Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a systemic disease associated with low bone mass and destruction of the microstructure of bone tissue, resulting in increased bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture.

Symptoms

  • Pain, often in the back

  • Bone fractures without apparent cause

  • Tooth loss and reduction in height

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for osteoporosis. Some progress has also been made in clinical-experimental studies. The results show that acupuncture has a therapeutic effect on osteoporosis and can improve the symptoms of osteoporosis by increasing osteoblast activity, promoting osteoclast growth, decreasing osteoclast activity and correcting the negative balance of bone metabolism.

In recent years, an increasing number of studies have shown that exercise has some therapeutic effect on osteoporosis by stimulating osteoblast activity, promoting osteoclast production and differentiation, and increasing bone density. There are a variety of traditional fitness exercises in Chinese medicine, including Tai Chi, Wu Qin Xi, Ba Duan Jin, etc. that have a positive effect.
