Cold stimuli during menstruation can lead to excessive vasoconstriction in the pelvic cavity, which can cause menorrhagia or even amenorrhoea. Dieting, smoking, alcohol consumption, the use of contraceptives and emotional disturbances can also cause menstrual disorders.
Symptoms
Irregular menstrual periods
High blood loss
Menstrual periods that are too long or too short
Absence of menstruation
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the cause of irregular menstruation is mainly an internal deficiency of Qi and Blood, the accumulation of negative emotions and the intrusion of external Cold.
Treatment can be started 5-7 days before menstruation and stopped during menstruation. If the time of menstruation cannot be determined exactly, acupuncture can be applied the day after the absence of menstruation every few days until the onset of menstruation. Depending on the situation, treatment must be given during 2 to 4 consecutive menstrual cycles.
