According to TCM, gastritis is a disease caused by poor diet, emotional imbalance and weakness of the spleen and stomach. It is most often caused by cold and anger.

The TCM approach to treating chronic gastritis is based on protecting the stomach lining, combined with evidence-based treatments to strengthen the spleen (by eliminating excess heat and dampness for better qi flow) and strengthen the stomach (by nourishing yin).

Acupuncture treatment mainly uses the traditional acupuncture points of Zhongshang, Qihai, Neiguan and Fuss-sanli, which are used to stimulate Spleen and Stomach energy, strengthen the Spleen, regulate Qi, harmonise Blood, clear turbidity and regulate the Bowel and Stomach. Acupuncture can be adapted for other accompanying symptoms. It is effective for stomach pain, bloating, acid reflux and other stomach complaints and can be combined with Chinese herbs / phytotherapy.Clinical and experimental research shows that acupuncture can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and absorption of inflammation, and has a repairing effect on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
