Pain

Achilles tendonitis

Achilles tendinitis is an aseptic inflammatory condition that develops after exercise. During exercise, the calf muscles and Achilles tendon are repeatedly exposed to excessive stretching forces. A sudden increase in exercise intensity or frequency also often causes Achilles tendonitis.

Symptoms

  • Pain in the Achilles tendon

  • Redness, swelling

Acupuncture can relieve the pain by unblocking the meridians and promoting local blood circulation. The clinical effectiveness of acupuncture in treating Achilles tendonitis has been proven.

NUWA Health Tip: What should you do to prevent Achilles tendonitis in general?

It is important to prevent Achilles tendonitis by doing a 20-minute warm-up before exercise to move the ligaments of the joints. You can do some weight-bearing calf exercises to strengthen the Achilles tendon. Preventive measures are especially important for athletes.
