nuwa Praxis TCM Rückenschmerzen: Erfolgreiche Behandlung mit Akupunktur

No pesticides: or the natural way to a life without back pain

Back pain can be treated effectively and sustainably using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Unlike drugs, TCM relies entirely on the body's own self-healing powers.

Margret sits in her sunny conservatory and enjoys the view of her cacti. A fortnight ago, this peaceful moment would have been unthinkable: one wrong step with the watering can - and when she bent down, a sharp pain shot through her lower back.

According to the Back Report 2020, two thirds of the population in Switzerland suffer from back pain several times a year. The triggers are varied: from occupational strain combined with stress to poor exercise habits in everyday life.

Margret decided to try a consultation at nuwa after the serious incident: her therapist Hang Li diagnosed lumbago, triggered by severe muscle tension. ‘I had repotted all my cacti this spring,’ reports Margret, ‘and I'd had this pulling sensation in my back for weeks.’

Margret's lumbago, as well as many other types of back pain, can be treated effectively and sustainably with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In contrast to the mode of action of pain-suppressing medication, however, TCM relies entirely on the body's self-healing powers.

Its signals should not be blocked, but amplified and channelled in the right direction using acupuncture. ‘And that works? Won't it make my pain even worse?’ Margret compares the insertion of acupuncture needles to the painful pricking of cactus thorns.

Hang Li smiles at this comparison: ‘Acupuncture is something completely different, the fine acupuncture needles are placed gently and carefully on precisely defined meridians.’ This targeted stimulation encourages the body to release its own painkillers. The body is enabled and supported to regenerate itself.

In Margret's case, acupuncture gradually relaxes the muscles and restores the mobility of the joints. Together with a cupping treatment and a Tuina massage, lasting pain relief can be achieved.

‘After two treatments, the pain was almost gone - and now it's completely gone,’ says Margret at the end of her six-session treatment, and continues: ‘I don't use any pesticides on the cacti, so I think it's only logical that I personally want to stay healthy in a natural way.’
